Details of the first Bugatti Legend Special Edition Released
The iconic French supercar manufacturer Bugatti has revealed details of the first of a series of ‘Legend’ models which it will be unveiling over the course of the next 12 months.
It will come as no surprise to learn that the brand’s most famous and popular car, the Bugatti Veyron, will be the model that is to be given these strictly limited edition makeovers (only three examples of the debut Legend are scheduled for production), and that the design of the first in the range has been inspired by Jean-Pierre Wimmile – a man widely regarded as the finest professional driver to have ever been behind the wheel of a Bugatti race car.
Fans are now eagerly waiting for August 18th to come around, as this will be when the hotly anticipated Bugatti Legend Jean-Pierre Wimille is set to make its debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California.
According to this article, the truly beautiful model (the first of six planned as making up the Veyron Legend range), will not be any different mechanically to the current Veyron Vitesse, which can proudly lay claim to being the world’s fastest roofless car, having set a record high of 254mph.
This means that those who are lucky enough to get their hands on one of these ultra-rare editions can expect to enjoy scintillating speeds of 0-62mph in just 2.6 seconds whilst sat in an aesthetic replica of the car that stormed to victory in the Le Mans 24hr race in both 1937 and 1939.
Making the announcement, Bugatti President Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber noted how, since its formation, this prestigious marque has been ‘defined by outstanding personalities and historically resonant moments’, adding that he and his colleagues want to ‘tell the story of the brand through these Bugatti legends, and at the same time create a link between its past and present’.
