Goodwood Circuit plays host to the Romans International Track Day 2016
The historic Goodwood Circuit played host to the first inauguaral Romans International track day, an event where we hired out the entire race track for the day in order for a selection of clients to bring their own cars and experience them to the fullest on this famous circuit.
With the likes of the Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren 675LT and the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 in the line up of cars this was a hugely exciting event for everyone involved.
Goodwood operated a no racing policy but this wasn’t about competitive racing this day was about pure enjoyment of the car and experiencing what it’s like when your behind the wheel of your car with no speed limits or oncoming traffic to slow you down.
With a varying degree of track day experience among our clients this mattered not as the helpful instructions from the Goodwood stewards made it clear how to let cars overtake and the different rules and flags that we had to adhere to.
Whilst we had driving instructors to teach some of the more inexperienced drivers how to get the best out of the car on the track we also had Formula 1 driver Max Chilton on hand to provide insighful tips and some of us even got a chance to go on a hot lap as a passenger with him, a spine-chilling experience and great to see first hand what these cars are actually capable of with a professional racing driver behind the wheel.
Rupert, an experienced track day driver and came in his 458 Speciale commented:
‘What a great day. Having done several track days, they can become a bit monotonous but this was really well organised. Sausage and Bacon sandwiches to start the day, a sensible briefing and then a brilliant open track. The weather was perfect and great to see cars such as 918’s 675 LT’s and 991 GT3 RS’s being driven on the track. All in all a really nice bunch of people and cars being driven well; I hope to be invited again!!’
On the other hand John who was experiencing his very first track day in his 458 Italia also commented
‘Top day down at Goodwood with Romans International; have to say that the excellent tuition made the day so worthwhile for me, being a complete novice. Once I got the feel for the car I couldnt get over the pure adrenaline rush. Looking forward to destroying the next set of tyres!’
A video of the event can be seen on our YouTube channel here!
We also bumped into the guys from Supercar Driver club who just so happened to be shooting an F50 for one of their member’s and it ended up joining us on the grid for a group photo! All in all it was a great event which was enjoyed by all and there is no doubt we will be doing it again in 2017.
If you are a client of Romans International and would like to be considered for the next track day event then please get in touch.
