Historic Journey of Discovery Expedition to Celebrate Land Rover Landmark
The iconic SUV and super tough 4×4 manufacturer Land Rover have embarked on a historic journey of discovery expedition in celebration of the production of the company’s landmark one-millionth Land Rover Discovery.
The English born and bred 4×4 brand known not just for its utility four-wheel drive workhorse vehicles and also its sublime luxury cars which are as much at home in Kensington as they are in the rural countryside. Over the next two months the Land Rover Discovery Expedition team and their vehicles will undertake an epic 50 day, 8,000 mile intercontinental journey.
Their planned route starts from the Land Rover factory at Solihull in Birmingham all the way to the finish in Beijing, China. The gruelling expedition route of the Discovery Expedition will pass through countries along their journey, which includes: UK, France, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and then finally ending in China.
This historic journey of discovery expedition not only celebrates the production of its one-millionth Land Rover Discovery, but also aims to raise $1.6 million for a water sanitation project which is being setup in Uganda. The Ugandan water sanitation project is being handled by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), who are one of Global Humanitarian and Conservation Partners associated with Land Rover.
