How to Spec: Lamborghini Urus
The Lamborghini Urus is a Super SUV that remains one of the most desirable and sought-after models we sell. But instead of doing a review on how it drives, we’re going to focus on the different options and choices you’ll face when buying one. Whether you’re speccing up a brand-new Urus or looking at the used market, keep reading to learn all about the spec options.
Paint
One of the first decisions you’ll want to make is choosing the paint colour of your Urus. When the Urus first launched in 2018, the paint options were fairly limited. Given that it’s an everyday SUV, you’ll see a lot of them in black and grey, but Lamborghini now offers a huge range of colours through their Ad Personam program, allowing buyers to customise their Urus however they like.
Some of the most popular colours include:
- Nero Helene – A metallic black
- Nero Noctis – A solid black
- Grigio Lynx – A classic Lamborghini grey, now replaced with...
- Grigio Keres – A slightly lighter grey
Many of these colours are also available in a matte finish for an additional cost. Alternatively, some owners opt for matte PPF (paint protection film), which gives a satin effect while also protecting the paint and looks fantastic.
But if you’re ever going to have a flamboyant colour on an SUV, then the Lamborghini Urus is the best car to have. For those who want something bolder, Lamborghini offers some standout colours, including:
- Giallo Auge – A bright, signature Lamborghini yellow
- Arancio Borealis – A stunning pearl orange, especially on Pearl Capsule Editions
- Verde Mantis – A luminous green
- Rosso Mars – A bright, eye-catching red
- Blu Eleos – A bright mid-blue, with a darker deep blue also available
- Bianco Icarus & Bianco Monocerus – A couple of white options
While black and grey Urus models remain the best-sellers, the brighter colours are growing in demand and often command a premium on the used market. If you want something truly unique, the Ad Personam program lets you create a completely custom colour.
Wheels & Brakes
The standard wheel size on the Urus is 21 inches, but we’ve only ever seen one car on these and they don’t look the best. Most people opt for larger wheels to enhance the Urus’ aggressive stance. Larger wheels do slightly affect ride quality, but visually, 23s suit the Urus’ character best.
Wheel Options:
- 22-inch ‘Nath’ wheels: Available in silver, grey, or black
- 23-inch wheels: The most popular choice, giving the best look for the car. Available in full black or diamond-cut with black inserts, costing £5,000 extra from new
Brake Calipers:
- Standard in red or yellow, but can also be matched to the body colour for a more uniform look.
- A "murdered-out" look (black wheels, black calipers, black body) is an option, but adding a pop of colour can really enhance the car’s look.
- Some owners like to match the calipers to the interior stitching for a more cohesive design.
Brakes:
- The Urus comes with carbon-ceramic brakes as standard and are the largest ever fitted to a production car.
Exterior Styles
Lamborghini offers several exterior styling options, including the Style Package, which changes how different parts of the car are finished. Without the package, some parts of the Urus remain unpainted and have a black plastic-looking finish.
Style Package Options:
- High Gloss Style Package – Finishes elements like side sills, rear diffuser, wheel arches, mirrors, and front bumper inserts in gloss black, which can give a nice contrast to the body colour.
- Body Colour Style Package – All these elements are painted in the body colour instead of gloss black.
For those who want even more exclusivity, Lamborghini offers carbon fibre styling packs:
- Upper Carbon Fibre Pack (£6,500) – Includes mirrors, rear spoiler, and parts of the front bumper.
- Lower Carbon Fibre Pack (£12,000) – Covers side sills, mirrors, rear spoiler, rear diffuser, and more.
Speccing both carbon packs can cost over £20,000, which might not be recouped on resale, but it definitely enhances the look.
Off-Road Package & Options
You can get the off-road package from the factory if you’re looking for something more adventurous. It gives you different bumpers and a higher ride height for better ground clearance.
This is different from the off-road modes, which is another option that gives you Terra and Sabbia. If you do things like sand duning or off-roading, you’ll want those extra modes.
The Roof
One very important exterior option is the panoramic roof. It costs just over £2000 from new. We haven’t seen a Urus without one, and being an SUV, it should really have one especially if you’ve gone for a darker interior.
It's not the biggest panoramic roof, but it still lets in extra light, which is nice for rear passengers, and you’re still going to get pretty spectacular views. The roof can be opened and closed as well.
The Exhaust
The stock exhaust is decent, but if you want to get the best sound out of your Urus V8, you’ll want to spec the Akrapovic exhaust.
The Akrapovic is supplied and fitted by the factory and is approved, so there won’t be any issues with warranty like you get with some other aftermarket exhausts. It’s made specifically for the Urus, being 35% lighter than the original and made of titanium. It is a more expensive option at approximately £8000, but there’s no better exhaust for complementing the roar of the V8.
Interior
Lamborghini offers a few different themes for the Urus interior. It can be specced in leather or Alcantara, but keep in mind that while Alcantara looks fantastic, it wears a bit faster over time.
Elegante Interior
Features a single-tone leather seat with black contrast on the dash, doors, and headlining.
A luxurious, elegant look, especially in colours like Bianco Polar (white) or Terra Asia (tan).
Sportivo Interior
Features contrasting seat centres and contrast throughout the car, such as the dashboard, headlining, and black insert in the doors. This gives a much sportier look than the Elegante.
Available in bolder colours like red, yellow, and bright blue.
Other Interior Options:
- Q-Citura Stitching (£3,000+): A hexagonal quilted pattern on the seats that adds a premium touch.
- Perforated Leather (£3,000+): Allows for ventilated and massaging seats. If you go for this option, it comes with fully electric 18-way adapter seats, too.
- Lamborghini Shields on Headrests: A must-have for resale value.
- Four-Seat Layout: Removes the rear bench, replacing it with two sculpted rear seats and a centre console for extra comfort.
Steering wheel:
- Perforated, which has a better grip and more textured feel
- Smooth leather, which looks nice but can be slippier and wears more over time
- Suede, which gives a nice soft touch but will wear over time
Inserts:
- There are a couple of options, from all gloss black, aluminium trim, anodised dark aluminium trim, or carbon fibre if you want to spend more money.
Tech Features
When it comes to the tech features, some are essential while others are more “nice to haves”. One that is definitely worth getting is the upgraded sound system, a Bang & Olufsen 21 speaker 3D advanced system with an aluminium finish that rises out of the dashboard. The Sensonum sound system is also available for the 21 model year.
For the infotainment, the digital radio is not standard on the earlier model, so watch out for that if you want digital radio.
It's worth looking at the Full ADAS Package, which costs over £5000 but includes many safety features and advanced driving assistance, such as active braking assist, lane assist, and notifications of obstacles ahead. Some of this is included as standard in the newer models.
The park assistance package is also worth considering. It costs around £3000 and provides a 360-degree parking view to make parking more precise. From the 21 model, you can get Remote Park Assist, where the car basically parks itself.
Other options you can get but which are not essential are:
- Ambient lighting, which costs over £2500 and changes the interior mood lighting, but it’s barely noticeable.
- Night View Assist, which is a thermal night vision camera that could be useful in rural areas.
- Sunshine package, which could be useful if you live in hotter climates as it includes window shutters and heat-insulated glass to keep the heat out.
- Auxiliary Heating, which allows you to pre-heat the cabin remotely before driving.
5 Seats Or 4 Seats
Whether you choose the 4 seat or 5 seat option really comes down to personal preference and what use you’re looking to get out of the back seats.
If you’ve got kids or a large family, then 5 seats is going to be your best option. But if your kids are grown up or if you’re looking for a more luxurious, executive feel for the interior, 4 seats is the way to go.
With the 4 seat option, you get two properly sculpted back seats unlike with the rear bench seat, and it is a bit more spacious comfortable. it has a centre console with cup holders and more storage space, as well as a separate climate control system and heated seats as standard.
