Porsche has been rumoured to have bought the legendary Nardo test track in Italy
Speculation is rife after it was rumoured Porsche had bought the legendary Nardo test track in Italy, although nothing has been officially confirmed so far.
The prestigious German manufacturer of both performance and luxury cars hopes to join other luxury car manufacturers which have all used the Italian Nardo test track (or Nardò Ring as its often referred as). The Nardò Ring is a high speed test track which is located at more than 12 miles (20 kilometres) north-west from the town of Nardò, which is situated in the southern region of Apulia, located in the province of Lecce.
It is believed that the Porsche Engineering Group (a subsidiary group of Porsche AG) has secured the famous text track due to its stable mild climate and world class quality testing facilities for the development of future models.
The Nardò Ring, with its dominating high-speed bowl, has seen most of the worlds great supercars and where they have attempted their top speed runs, these include; Jaguar XJ220, McLaren F1 and more recently the Bugatti Veyron, Aston Martin One-77 and Porsche’s 918 Spider, all of which have stretched their legs at the Nardò test track.
