Production was limited to just 500, which sold out in no time. Porsche showed that, in the right hands, this extremely feisty GT2 RS could achieve a lap time at Germany’s notorious Nuburgring in 7 minutes and 18 seconds, which is almost 20 seconds quicker than the 911 Turbo S. Porsche have achieved this increase in performance and handling by optimising the power-to-weight ratio with a range of modifications and the use of carbon fibre in many areas of the car to save weight, yet retain strength. This means the GT2 RS is 155lbs lighter than the 911 GT2.

The GT2 RS features a 620hp flat, six-cylinder, twin-turbo Boxer engine with 4-valve technology and variable turbine geometry. This feeds the six-speed manual gearbox with power to the rear wheels, which will translate into 0-62mph (or 100kmh) in 3.5 seconds; the top speed of 205mph is in hypercar territory. Equally impressive is the GT2 RS’s stopping power, which comes from Porsche Composite Ceramic Brakes (PCCB).
