The DB11 takes the sublime 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 from Mercedes and nestles it into a body styled by a manufacturer who knows a thing or two about making jaw-droppingly good looking cars. Whilst the hugely improved infotainment and turbocharged engine are clear signs of Mercedes influence, it is the aggressively modern new design and the quality of the British made interior which really catch the eye. Very much a GT car Aston have managed to make the DB11 noticeably more spacious and practical than the DB9, especially noticeable in the boot department of this car, where it manages to be 20% larger than the equivalent DB9. The new Skyhook adaptive damping system provides fantastic ride control and this along with the smooth delivery of the V8 is what DB11 owners will grow to truly appreciate.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY
- There’s a constant but subtle burble from the exhaust at idle, while throttle response is instant and grip is good. Let the revs build and it’s clearly not lacking in theatre; roaring to its redline with a suitably raucous note. The feelsome steering and decent rigidity allow you to place the car accurately on the road, too.
- The conditions also showed the fundamental balance of the chassis to be near perfect, with front and rear grip levels that allow the big coupe to feel agile without becoming scary.
- It’s a much crisper, more confidence inspiring car to drive. The steering is more positive on turn in and you get a much better sense of what the tyres are doing.
