From then on Alpina has been a name synonymous with bespoke luxury performance variants of some of BMW’s best driving cars, taking a slightly different approach to BMW’s M Division. Following the victory of the ALPINA B6 GT3 in the ADAC GT3 Masters, Alpina decided to make a limited production of 99 road cars inspired and heavily influenced by this dominating race car. This car takes the already blisteringly fast Alpina B3 S Bi-Turbo and uses race technology and components to make this a fully track capable road car. The engine itself remains largely unchanged producing an ample 408hp from a bi-turbo straight-6 and the legendary torque levels for which Alpina’s turbocharged engines are acclaimed. As well as rapid acceleration (0-62mph in 4.5 seconds) the B3 GT3 has the stopping power to match. A braking system comprising of 6-piston front and 4-piston rear fixed calipers coupled with larger grooved discs, provides minimal fade with maximum driver feel. From the exterior the GT3 features a carbon fibre aerodynamics package consisting of a front splitter, end plates and a clever rear spoiler which increases downforce whilst leaving drag unaffected. Suspension has been totally overhauled using race-bred coilovers, offering a sufficiently comfortable road biased set-up, but also 12-way adjustable compression rates and 18-way adjustable rebound rates for the track (tools included). A specially designed X-section Akrapovič lightweight titanium exhaust with carbon fibre tips increases power by allowing the engine to breath more freely, whilst contributing an 11kg weight saving over standard. Other weight saving efforts include the forged aluminium 20-spoke ALPINA GT3 CLASSIC alloy wheels which despite being larger in section offer a saving of a further 10kg. The interior features a digital race display as well as stunning blue/green interior stripes over lightweight Recaro sport seats, to keep you firmly planted whilst on track yet comfortable on the road. The whole car is festooned with Alpina badging, embossed alcantara lettering and an interior B3 GT3 plaque confirming this car is 1 of just 99 examples built worldwide.
