The story of Alpina began in 1962 when it’s founder Burkard Bovensiepen designed a Weber dual carburettor for the BMW 1500, which was then awarded a full BMW factory guarantee such was the quality. From then on Alpina has been a name synonymous with bespoke luxury performance variants of some of BMW’s best driving cars, taking a slightly different approach to BMW’s M Division.
Based on the BMW 5-Series Alpina created the B5 bi-turbo, with a limited production the Touring is an undoubtedly rare car. The B5 is staggeringly fast and extremely agile with each Alpina being all-wheel drive, with rear wheel steering and standard 20-inch wheels. Even with 608bhp, the B5 Touring’s drive is nothing short of astonishing even on British B-roads, with suspension that offers an unprecedented amount of comfort. The 600bhp 4.4L Twin-Turbo V8 effortlessly accelerates the Alpina from 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds whilst simultaneously producing a deep but equally unintrusive exhaust note.
The Touring thrives in its Adaptive mode. As soon as it is activated the car will monitor your throttle, steering, speed and what sort of road you’re on. This paired with the Alpina’s expertly crafted interior is proof enough as to why this is all the car you’ll ever need. The Alpina is truly the perfect 202mph family car.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY

- 'Alpina’s new B5 Touring is a grown-up, refined alternative to the M5, but with the added practicality of an estate'
- 'Rare and bloody good'
