The original M2 and M2 Competition have been praised highly for their agile chassis and responsive engines providing a fun driving experience for all driver abilities. With the M2 now receiving the CS (Competition Sport) treatment, the S55 engine that was found in the M2 Competition has been re-mapped to the M3/M4 power figure of 444 bhp – more than enough in a car of smaller dimensions. Power delivery is smooth and consistent thanks to the two turbos, with immense amounts of torque available to be deployed lower in the rev range.
The driving experience delivered by the M2 CS is engaging at whichever speed you choose. The stiffer suspension setup with adaptive damping and rigid chassis provide precise body control through corners and composure at higher speeds. Coupled with the responsive engine, BMW have created an extremely enjoyable driverās car. Providing the visual attitude and aggression are the M-Performance carbon fibre pieces which adorn the exterior. These include the front splitter, rear diffuser and roof. To further keep weight to a minimum, carbon fibre is also used for the bonnet, which features an air vent unique to the CS. Not only does this feature benefit the car aesthetically, it also acts to keep engine temperatures down and reduce pressure up front. It is safe to say that the M2 CS is a very good-looking car, with all the aggressive features that allow it to stand out from the regular 2-series also benefitting the car aerodynamically.
The carbon fibre is not just solely confined to the exterior. The interior receives lacquered carbon fibre to the lower centre console and door card handles. On top of this, alcantara is also abundant in the interior, giving a premium and comfortable feel. The leather & alcantara M Competition sport seats are unique to the CS, providing ample support when navigating tight corners on track and more than enough comfort for those longer drives. The original M2 was described as āThe Baby M Carā, but the CS treatment has enhanced the M2 so much so, that its main rival is the highly praised Cayman GT4. The M2 CS marks the end of the F87 M2 series and with BMW bearing this in mind, they have undoubtedly created an exceptional driverās car that offers a well-rounded package of track pedigree and driver engagement.
