The Carpathian Edition is a limited release variant of the top of the range V8 Defender and is no longer available to order. Whilst mechanically the same as the V8 Defender, the Carpathian Edition differentiates itself with a distinct styling package which includes the premium metallic Carpathian Grey paint but featuring a Satin Paint Protection Film which not only helps protect the paintwork but it contrasts beautifully with a gloss black painted bonnet and gloss black wheels which help give off a more stealthy and military-like appearance.
The new Defender was arguably the most anticipated car of 2020, bringing the Defender into the modern era by applying the latest technology available from Land Rover. The upgrades are instantly apparent. From its modern edgy style to the series of onboard computers and stability systems, the new Defender is without a doubt a change for the better. Incorporating computers into everything the Defender does makes for a much more refined driver experience over the previous analogue drive.
The V8 Defender tops out the range and as the name suggests features the mighty supercharged 5.0L V8 which features in many other high powered JLR products producing a plentiful 525hp along with a healthy serving of 625Nm of torque. All of this results in some scarcely believable performance figures for a 2.5-ton behemoth of a car, 0 - 62mph takes just 5.2 seconds, topping out at just shy of 150mph. In order to reign all this extra grunt in Land Rover have kindly fitted the V8 with uprated suspension, beefier brakes and an all-new electronic differential and traction control program. Land Rover really have given this the full beans, making this the ultimate modern-day Defender.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY
- The new rapid Defender V8 flagship dishes up a supercharged soundtrack
- It's more immediate and responsive and precise, albeit still quite relaxed in the grander scheme of automotive things.
- Comparing it to the top-heavy Mercedes-AMG G63 and the thrill-lacking Audi SQ7/8, the Defender V8 is on another level.
