Presented to you here is the 110 V8 variant. The V8 tops out the range and as the name suggests features the mighty supercharged 5.0L V8 which features in many other high powered JLR products. This time the engine is producing a plentiful 518hp along with a healthy serving of 625Nm of torque. All of this results in some scarcely believable performance figures for a 2.5-ton behemoth of a car. In order to reign all this extra grunt in Land Rover have kindly fitted the V8 with uprated suspension, beefier brakes and an all-new electronic differential and traction control program. In terms of the styling and standard features on this car Land Rover really have given this the full beans, making this the ultimate modern-day Defender.
The new Defender was arguably the most anticipated car of 2020, bringing the Defender into the modern era by applying the latest technology available from Land Rover. The upgrades are instantly apparent. From its modern edgy style to the series of onboard computers and stability systems, the new Defender is without a doubt a change for the better. Incorporating computers into everything the Defender does makes for a much more refined driver experience over the previous analogue drive. The long suspension travel provides a soft and gentle ride, absorbing any imperfection in the terrain beneath it. Although it shows good on-road compliance, it is just as impressive off-road, easily navigating through any terrain with the clever Dynamic Stability Control and all-wheel drive system.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY
- The new rapid Defender V8 flagship dishes up a supercharged soundtrack.
- Dynamic Mode, which remains exclusive to the V8 sharpens the throttle response, weights up the steering and livens it up.
- Comparing it to the top-heavy Mercedes-AMG G63 and the thrill-lacking Audi SQ7/8, the Defender V8 is on another level.
