The MC20 is Maserati’s eagerly anticipated new two-seater mid-engined sports car, produced in collaboration with the Dallara motorsport engineering company. This has allowed for Maserati to employ a carbon-fibre monocoque for the first time, keeping weight down allowing for more performance potential. The structure is claimed to be the most rigid that Maserati have put into production, bettering that of the legendary MC12. Taking advantage of the lightweight chassis, the all new Formula 1 dervied 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine mounted behind the driver accelerates the MC20 from 0-62mph in only 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 202mph. This means that there is plenty of power and torque to go around, producing 621bhp and 730Nm respectively. Figures like this in such a compact, lightweight chassis makes exploring all 8000 RPM an addictive and exhilarating experience.
Directly translating to 'Sky', the Cielo has a glass hardtop roof which can seamlessly fold away underneath the rear clamshell with ease. Made of electrochromic glass, just a touch of a button on the interior screen switches the roof from clear to near opaque. In a staggering 12 seconds the roof retracts fully, which can happen up to speeds of 30mph. Not only does the MC20 design alter with the rear buttresses to transform it into the Cielo, you can also fully immerse yourself in the sounds of the roaring twin-turbo V6.
The interior is extremely well designed, with the driver being the primary focus. Step in past the butterfly doors and you are greeted with a minimalistic but luxurious interior. Laden with carbon fibre with leather & alcantara trimming, the interior feels premium and very much Maserati. The digital displays are clear and display all the information a driver needs. Set to compete against the likes of the F8 Tributo, Lamborghini Huracán and McLaren Artura, the MC20 is an extremely competent mid-engined sports car, a car that encapsulates the very best of Italian style and performance.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY
- The Maserati MC20 Cielo is a car with lots of talents and dimensions: it's quick, engaging and friendly
- It has breadth, almost a dual personality, but remains laser focused on being the best version of Maserati we’ve ever known.
- The feral V6 and dextrous chassis are a match made in heaven. Another drive can’t come soon enough, against any conceivable rival. It really is that good.
