Model Overview

The McLaren 600LT is one of the cars in a line of race cars and road cars to receive the “long tail” moniker. Following on from the success of the 675LT, this time it was the turn of McLaren’s “baby” model the 570S to get the LT treatment, with sensational results. The power has been raised to nearly 600bhp, so it’s no surprise that the 600LT Spider puts in a phenomenal 0 to 124mph time of 8.4s, 1.2 seconds quicker than the 570S Spider. The racing inspired long tail bodywork and more aggressive aerodynamics have increased downforce by 100kg, whilst McLaren Brake Steer, a technology banned in F1 has made its comeback on a McLaren road car. The convertible element of the 600LT Spider provides you with the option to increase all the sensations associated with driving pleasure, with hardly any sacrifice on performance. The 0-62 mph time remains exactly the same as the coupe, thanks to McLaren’s single piece carbon fibre MonoCell II. The carbon tub provides the same levels of stability with the 600 LT Spider weighing just under 50kg more than the Coupe.

Another highlight feature of the 600LT are the top exit stainless steel exhausts providing a distinctive soundtrack and unique aesthetic highlight. Step inside over the wide carbon fibre racing sills, get swallowed up by the deep bucket seats and it is immediately apparent that this is a race car for the road. The interior has a level of refinement and driver focus that is exclusively McLaren, setting the driver up for the experience ahead. The 600LT Spider seamlessly brings high-end track performance to the road, evoking excitement whenever you get behind the wheel.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY

  • Almost no decline in dynamic ability with the added drama of no roof almost makes this a no-compromise supercar.
    EVO
  • It delivers such compelling handling accuracy, tactility and sharpness that it’s something else entirely.
    Top Gear
  • There is a wonderful urgency about the powertrain, and the V8 and seven-speed ‘box complement each other beautifully. The ride comfort (especially in Normal mode) is surprisingly good. The paddle gearshifts are fast and the engine sounds great as revs build, with that inspiring exhaust ‘crack’ during a gearshift.
