The 2024 Facelift G63 has received subtle design changes such as a more aggressive front bumper and new locations for parking cameras. The interior has also been upgraded, featuring the new generation AMG Performance steering wheel and Mercedes' latest MBUX infotainment and twin 12.3-inch screens, with the infotainment system now touchscreen. The biggest change to the 2024 G63 AMG is the new AMG Active Ride Control suspension system, replacing the previous suspension with a hydraulic system which allows for a more stable and smooth ride and overall a much more sure-footed handling experience than previous generations. The new suspension and software introduces two additional driving modes; AMG Traction PRO and AMG Active Balance Control.
Despite huge technical advancements in both driveability as well as comfort and luxury, the G63 has managed to maintain much of its character and appeal from its boxy design to the satisfyingly solid clunk when you close the doors. All the iconic features remain including the bonnet mounted indicators, exposed hinges and side exit exhaust, which continue to give this 4x4 a unique style and utilitarian charm.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY
- It just so happens to be the sweetest handling G yet. Lovers of the old G63 will find this a natural progression.
- The G-Wagen will never be a paragon of efficiency or parsimony, but it’s still an amazing and largely unique bit of kit.
- It’s a mighty engine that does a very good job of overcoming the inherent limitations of weight and aerodynamics.
