The Nissan GT-R is the current benchmark and pinnacle of Japanese performance road going cars. The Japanese style and approach when creating a supercar is very different from that of the European car marques creating a unique driving experience at a fraction of the cost. Following on in the foot-steps of it’s predecessor the legendary R34 Nissan Skyline, the new GT-R’s mission statement remained the same; beat the European supercar manufacturer’s for half the price. And that is exactly what it is still achieving today with the help of some phenomenal Japanese engineering.
The legendary ‘R-Start Mode’ (aka launch control) was originally designed by Nissan for escaping low-tracing situations (mud or snow) but was found to yield extraordinarily fast 0-60mph times and the brutal acceleration for which this car has become so famous. The highly complex four-wheel drive system and GR6 double clutch gear-box give this car other worldly grip and when coupled with the twin-turbo V6, producing in excess of 550bhp, give breath-taking straight-line speed. The cabin experience has improved massively since the GT-R first came to market now featuring much better-quality materials and creature comforts such as a BOSE Sound System, cruise control and an 8” touch screen infotainment system. It’s aggressive angular styling looks like something straight out of a video game and gives an incline to what lies beneath this Japanese supercar-slayer. Overall the Nissan GT-R is a truly unique car and earns it’s title as the best value performance car on the market.
