The Porsche 911 Carrera T represents an exciting addition to the humble Carrera line-up which, although sensational sports cars in their own right, have been somewhat overshadowed in recent times by the GT and Turbo models on offer. The 'T' stands for Touring and it offers a stripped-back more driver-focused version of the base Carrera, which really focuses in on driver engagement, enjoyment and ultimately value for money. Weight saving was the first thing on Porsche’s checklist so as standard out went the rear seats (although can be optioned back in like this car), sound deadening was reduced to a minimum, and they saved more weight by skipping insulation materials, using thinner glass and a trimmed down battery.
The Carrera T comes as standard with the 7-Speed manual gearbox which also adopts the shortened gear lever from the GTS models, showing Porsche's intended audience for this variant. Although the PDK can be optioned in, the fact that the standard Carrera is no longer available to order with a manual gearbox, the Carrera T does now operate as the entry-level model for the 911 purists who prefer an analogue driving experience. Although the Carrera T originally listed at more than the standard Carrera, Porsche threw in a healthy list of desirable options “on the house”. This includes Sports Seats Plus, PASM Sports Suspension (-10mm Lower), Sport Chrono Package & Sports Exhaust System - all added for increased driving pleasure. Overall the Carrera T offers a driving experience far greater than the sum of its parts creating a hugely appealing prospect as a Porsche daily driver for the purist.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY
- The T stands out in the 911 range as a real driver’s choice.
- The messaging is loud and clear – this is the lightest series 911 for purists.
- It’s a keener, meaner, more urgent 911 Carrera, one that retains that famed usability
