The timeless design of the 911 Targa has now been incorporated into the 992 generation featuring the signature characteristic roll-over bar from the classic Targa and the beautifully engineered roof mechanism. The top of the range Targa belongs to the GTS which has long been considered the sweet spot with an extra emphasis on being more driver focused but without the on-road compromises of the more hardcore GT cars. The 992 GTS holds a 30bhp power increase over the regular Targa 4S as well as the uprated brakes from the 911 Turbo and a 10mm lower ride height thanks to the PASM Suspension. Like the other GTS variants you get many goodies as standard including the GTS Sports Exhaust, Sports Chrono Package, Centre-Lock wheels and a race-tex interior all contributing to the more sporty character of the car.
Whilst there is a manual option the 8-Speed PDK transmission is probably better suited to the Targa and will certainly be the more popular option. There is no rear-wheel drive option though with all Targa variants utilizing Porsche's trusty 4WD system and with it's 2+2 seating arrangement and deep front boot this car makes for a surprisingly practical summer sports car which is equally adept at being an all seasons daily driver. Perhaps the main reason though that people are attracted to the Targa is for the beautiful styling and classy elegance that oozes out of it, and the GTS further accentuates this and with extra kudos for having the best performance out of the lot.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY
- "The temptation to unleash the engine is that much greater in the GTS not only because of the more aggressive exhaust note but because the revs seem to build more quickly and freely."
- "The Targa GTS is roomy in a way that other sports cars aren't and one of the most comfortable cars to sit in."
- "A convertible that's searingly quick, sharp to drive, plush around town, surprisingly practical and genuinely usable 365 days of the year."
