Upon its release in 2016, The 911 R was the darling amongst driving enthusiasts and journalists alike, winning pretty much every coveted magazine award going. With its fabulous manual gearbox, clever aerodynamics including a new diffuser to compensate for the lack of rear wing and the 4.0 litre naturally aspirated flat six lifted straight from the GT3 RS; the 911 R is one of the purest and most emotive modern 911s on the market.
The 911 R boasts plenty of features including carbon fibre front wings and bonnet, a lightweight magnesium roof and with 4.5kg of sound insulation that has been stripped and carbon ceramic brakes which come as standard there is no surprise the 911 R comes in 50kg lighter than the GT3 RS. The 911 R really set off the trend of Porsche GT cars being available with no rear wing with the GT3 Touring fast becoming one of their most sought after models and the more recent 911 S/T which is essentially a spiritual successor the 911 R.
Whilst the 911 R was only available to spec in 2 colours - White and GT Silver, there were a handful of cars which were paint to sample and special orders such as this car which was ordered in Black from the factory and is one of very few cars worldwide in this colour which has also had the decorative stripes removed for the ultimate stealth look.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY
- A Porsche addict's wishlist on wheels. For many this would be the only car you'd ever need.
- In isolation the 911 R is predictably wonderful to drive: forgiving yet playful, hugely fast but requiring skill and patience to extract its full potential.
- It is as close to a purist’s 911 as is possible this deep into the regulated 21st century, and it is closer to Preuninger’s heart than anything else he has worked on in his 15 years on the job.
