Aston Martin reveal exciting new Vantage GT3
This could be the most exciting Aston Martin in years. Aston Martin have unveiled it’s brand new race inspired limited edition Vantage GT3 which officially debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
It will be the most hardcore and powerful road-going Aston in it’s history with the naturally aspirated 5.9L V12 producing 592 bhp (27bhp more than the V12 Vantage S) and 461lb ft of torque. 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds although top speed is less than the V12 Vantage S at 185mph. There will be no manual stick with their latest 7-speed automated manual transmission appearing once more.
By using the ‘GT3’ moniker, which is best known on the back of a certain Porsche 911, has shown Aston Martin’s intent in going to great lengths to ensure that the chassis dynamics match the new revised engine and can compete with some of the likes of the Porsche GT3. The Vantage GT3 features honed active damper settings, wider track (15mm wider at the front and 33mm wider at the rear), aerodynamic package, lightweight 19inch magnesium alloys wrapped around Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres and for the first time on an Aston Martin; the car can be specced with a magnesium centre locking cap.
One of the most striking features on the GT3 is the horse shoe graphic in the bonnet that aids airflow and cooling on the car and the large fixed wing that completely dominates the rear. Ultimately, thanks to all of this clever use of magnesium, titanium, aluminium and carbon fibre means the Vantage weighs just 1565kg which is remarkable.
The weight-loss programme continues throughout the interior, with the centre console crafted from carbon fibre and seats losing the electric adjustments in favour of manual levers. That said, the use of alcantara and leather in the cabin means it’s not completely stripped out and retains an air of luxury, which no Aston Martin would be complete without.
Limited to only 100 units to Aston Martin dealers worldwide it is believed that the run has already been sold out to Aston Martin’s VIP customer base with each estimated to cost in the region of £250,000. We cannot wait to see this car on the road or the track this year and hopefully in the Romans International showroom one day.
