Mercedes-Benz to offer SLK Roadster in diesel option

For the first time, the German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz is going to offer their new generation SLK-Class roadster with a diesel engine option.

This is no normal diesel engine as it will feature one of the new generation diesels that offers superb levels of refinement, exhilarating performance, together with class-leading emissions and economy. The new SLK 250 CDI will be able to achieve a combined fuel consumption of 56.5 mpg claimed by Mercedes-Benz and low CO2 emission figures of 132 g/km, which will make it one of the most economical roadster’s in its class.

Just in case you were concerned about lack of performance and power, the SLK 250 CDI is fitted with the twin-turbo 2.1-litre diesel Blue-EFFICIENCY engine, which develops 204bhp. Add to this its 7G-Tronic Plus seven-speed automatic transmission, it is no slouch.

With the economy figures to one side, this spritely two-seater roadster still has plenty of performance at its disposal, powering its way to 62 mph in 6.7 seconds and with respectable top speed of 151mph.
