After the success that Porsche had with the Weissach Pack on the 918 Spyder and then GT2 RS, it seemed only fitting to offer a similar package on its most well-loved track day weapon the GT3 RS. So, let us take a look at what your £12,626 gets you in this installation of the Weissach Package. As always with Porsche the benchmark product on which they are trying to improve is already a masterpiece, so it really is all in the details.
Focusing on weight saving the engineers at Weissach have managed to shave 18kg off the weight of a Clubsport specification GT3 RS. This has been done primarily using a carbon fibre roof and a new titanium roll cage to replace the heavier steel one included with the Clubsport Pack. Saving weight this high up in the car gives the added benefit of lowering the centre of gravity, reducing roll whilst aiding overall braking, acceleration and turn-in performance. Stiffness and further weight reduction have also been achieved through the use of carbon fibre anti-roll bars & drop links, whilst sound deadening has been reduced as well as interior trim and carpeting cut back. The only weight that has been added is that of the Weissach logo embroidery in the headrest and plaque on the cupholder cover, that gently remind you that you are sitting in something truly special. Overall the Weissach Pack creates a GT3 RS that feels sharper, more alert and meaner looking than ever.
The GT3 RS has long been touted as one of the ultimate road-legal track cars offering huge levels of performance and driver involvement to appeal to even the most hardcore of enthusiasts but what is so amazing is how Porsche keep on improving the car.
The biggest changes on the 991.2 RS from the 991.1 are to the chassis and the aerodynamics with stiffer suspension and increased downforce ensuring the GT3 RS is set up like a race car. This enables the car to have a much sharper response and increased feel helping the car to lap the Nurburgring just 9 seconds shy of the GT2 RS which has 177bhp more. The 991.2 GT3 RS is a sensation to drive with bundles of character, perfected for the track but hugely capable on the road it is still one of the most exciting cars money can buy.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY
- Superb on road, spectacular on track.
- The GT3 RS is truly outstanding and deserves our categorical praise.
- Despite being a road car, the 911 GT3 RS is even more savage than the racing version.
